Immerse yourself in darbuka/ dumbek drumming, mideastern music,  and vegan cuisine! Only 1.5 hours from NYC!

Great opportunity to learn the incredible Turkish drumming style for any level players, from beginner to professional.

Instrumentalists can bring their instrument and learn repertoire and technique with professional players.

Daily Classes Include:

Darbuka Fundamentals

Advanced  Darbuka Technique

Ensemble pieces from around the region

Maqamat Workshops

Accompaniment

Soloing

Nightly “Istanbul Style” practice sessions

Meditation, Yoga and Sports

Retreat rates include instruction, food, and Lodging at the Empowerment Center. 

Family Style :)  You are invited to come up for any number of days between  11AM March 4 - Noon Monday March 13,  2017.   Everyday there will be group classes, open time, practice sessions, and great food! 

Recital parties every Sunday are open to the public. 

Work scholarships , Vegan Chef Apprenticeships are available. Inquire within. 

SCHEDULE

A typical day blends workshops on technique, composition and accompaniment with small group and individual practice sessions, as well as lots of tasty healthy food and time to explore the grounds and even run off and practice something for the recitals Sunday evenings.
