DÜM
Turkish Rhythm Celebration
DÜM features Raquy Danziger's dazzling darbuka drumming pieces interspersed with beautiful melodic compositions for traditional instruments. Raquy specializes in the emerging Turkish Split Hand style of darbuka drumming. Similar to playing Indian Tabla, this style splits the hands into two allowing drummers speed and dexterity like never before!
For the melodic pieces Raquy switches to the mystical 12 – stringed King Kemenche Tarhu, a futuristic version of the Persian spike fiddle invented by Peter Biffen from Australia. These are original compositions, based on Middle Eastern scales and rhythms, accompanied by Turkish oud, baglama and drums.
